FISHING SEASON
The fishing season begins on January 1st and ends on September 30, 2007.
CATCH REPORT
All catch reports must be delivered to the Ocean City Marlin Club no later than 10 days from the date of the catch. They may be
entered on line at this website, placed in the catch box, sent via mail, or any other manner authorized by the Board.
Only original Ocean City Marlin Club Catch Reports will be accepted.
- NO WHITE MARLIN OPEN CATCH REPORTS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR MARLIN CLUB AWARDS.
- THE LAST WEEK OF FISHING FOR THE SEASON: ALL CATCH REPORTS MUST BE TURNED
IN NO LATER THAN NOON ON OCTOBER 1ST.
ELIGIBILITY FOR SEASONAL AWARDS
MEMBERS
Dues must be paid in FULL prior to fish catches counting towards seasonal awards. Any catch reports received prior to dues being paid WILL NOT count towards season awards. Catches made by Members on Member or Non-member boats ARE eligible for awards.
NON-MEMBERS
Non-members are not eligible for Billfish Awards with the exception of the Jr. Angler Awards.
Non-Members are eligible for all other Seasonal Awards, when the fish are caught on a Club Boat, and the Club Member Boat Dues are current.
CAPTAINS AND MATES
Member and Non-members who receive pay as a professional crew member in Ocean City ARE NOT eligible for Seasonal Awards.
FISH ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS
All fish eligible for awards must be caught within 100 Nautical Miles of the Ocean City, Maryland Inlet, (Sea Bouy). All catches eligible for Ocean City Marlin Club Seasonal Awards, must DEPART and RETURN to the Ocean City, Maryland Inlet. To qualify for seasonal tournament and awards, all catches must meet or exceed all Federal Requirements and Marlin Club Weights.
TIES
All seasonal ties will be decided based on the DAY and TIME of catch.
BILLFISH RELEASES IN ONE DAY
For awards given to most Billfish Releases in One Day, boats must leave and return on the same day.
INDIVIDUAL ANGLER AWARDS
For awards given to individual anglers the fish MUST BE HOOKED AND CAUGHT BY THE ANGLER, unaided by the boat's crew; Junior Anglers may receive assistance. All Ocean City Marlin Club and IGFA rules apply.
PRIVATE/CHARTER BOATS
Private Boats who fish one or more times for pay in Ocean City, Maryland, become Charter Boats and ARE NOT eligible for awards given to Private Boats.
Most billfish awards given to boats 35' - 46' and 34' and under are for
private boats only.
*All fish must be weighed on a certified scale at a local marina, no private scales allowed.
AMATEUR ANGLER FISHING CONTEST
The weekly Amateur Angler Contests are sponsored by the Ocean City Marlin Club and the Ocean City Public Relations Office. For more information call the Public Relations Office at 410-289-2800.
The contest starts around Memorial Day and ends Labor Day (15 weeks). The contest is open to all amateur anglers (visitors and locals) fishing in the bays and ocean of Ocean City, with weekly plaques given out for the largest flounder, bluefish, rockfish, trout, sea bass and tautog. The contest officially starts on a Monday at 12:01 a.m. and continues until the following Sunday at Midnight. To enter, have your fish weighed in at any of Ocean City's official weigh stations and complete an
official catch report. The report must be filed out completely and legibly and received at the Public Relations Office before Noon the following Monday in order to be eligible.
